King of Feday

King of Feday

He could see that the boy was frozen with fear. He loved that look on a young child. The fear as he approached them. He stopped, drank in the frightened looks on their faces with pleasure as he said to them, “Good people of Feday, do not fear. For your new king has arrived.”

The people gasped and there was muttering all around.

“I have come to claim the throne from my dead brother.”

He smoothed down his long black hair.

“What are you all standing here staring for? I want my flags hung over the windows of the castle and a banner in the tower.” The common people who worked in the castle hurried to meet his demands. This would be the beginning of a dark time for the people of Feday. The new king was cruel and merciless.

In a house on the edge of the city there was a family sitting down to a meager dinner. No one was talking. “I’m tired of it all!” suddenly yelled the boy.

“Jehan!” cried his mother. “Hush, There might be a sentry around!”

“No mother I’m sick and tired of that good for nothing pig, sitting in the king’s castle. We need to do something!”

“But Jehan, we can do nothing.”

“I’m leaving.” said Jehan. And with that, a goodbye, and a kiss from his mother he was off to the castle.

He reached the castle by dusk and right to the king’s chamber. “Get out of here.” said the king.

“No! I am here to rid you of Feday forever!” Jehan cried. The evil king just laughed. Jehan took the bow from his back and an arrow from his quiver and shot the evil king. Jehan took over the throne and ruled as a king should. There was happiness in Feday once more.
