I had a chat with a very good friend
about things long coming
things that need to be put to end
and this facade of loving
I told her everything on my mind
I laid it in her lap
She listened thoughtfully, with a kind
of knowingness in fact
My friend told me what deep down I knew
but wouldn’t bring to the surface
I nodded, just accepting it as true,
now I just need to courage.
